DR SONIA AHMED
Hi, I am Dr Sonia Ahmed, a chartered counselling psychologist who is registered with both the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). With over 10 years of clinical experience, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including NHS, not-for-profit organisations and private work. This has involved working with clients across the whole life span, in both individual and group settings, via face-to-face, telephone and video call. Throughout my career, I have worked with a number of mental health issues, including presentations such as, but not limited to, depression/depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma/PTSD.
I believe that each person's experience is individual and unique, and that there is not a ‘one size fits all' when it comes to therapy. Therefore my therapeutic approach takes on an integrative stance, in which I will often draw upon a number of therapeutic models and techniques, tailored to each individual's needs. Regardless of your treatment plan, developing a strong therapeutic relationship will be the core of therapy. This means that sessions will be based on empathy, trust, warmth, non-judgmental and compassion, whilst being adaptive to each of your needs.
